Department of Zoology

Zoology is the holistic study of animal kingdom (both extant and extinct) with reference to their macro and micro structure, evolution, physiology and adaptation, classification, development, intra and interspecific interactions, distribution and the specific role they play in making up the ecosystem. To cater the inquisitive minds of those who are looking forward to explore nature from an up-close perspective the Under Graduate Honours Course in Zoology at P. R. Thakur Government College has marked its inception from the academic session 2020-2021. The intake capacity of this Department is presently 19 (nineteen) with two full-time teachers. The curriculum and syllabus of this Department is under the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) implemented by the affiliating university (West Bengal State University). This Department also offers Zoology as Generic Elective subject to students from other relevant Honours Departments.
