Observation of Students’ Week, 2026

P.R. Thakur Government College, Thakurnagar, was set to celebrate “Observation of Students’ Week, 2026” from 2nd to 8th January 2026, as per Government directive dated 10th December 2025. The week-long event featured a series of activities including an Inaugural Session and Campus Cleaning, a Scholarship Awareness Programme, a Parent-Teacher Meeting, a Medical Camp in collaboration with Chandpara Rural Hospital, Annual Athletic Meet, a Higher Education Orientation Programme for school learners, and a grand Cultural Programme with a Concluding Ceremony. Various college committees including NSS, the Cultural Committee, and the Games & Sports Committee were responsible for conducting their respective events.

A Campus Cleaning Drive was successfully organized by the National Service Scheme (NSS) of P.R. Thakur Government College, Thakurnagar, on 2nd January 2026 as part of the weeklong Observation of Students’ Week, 2026. The drive commenced at 11:00 a.m. alongside the Inaugural Session and witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and staff members alike. Volunteers actively cleaned various parts of the campus, including corridors, and the college premises, ensuring a neat and hygienic environment. The drive successfully instilled a sense of cleanliness, discipline, and environmental responsibility among the student community. The event was appreciated by the college administration, and it set a positive and energetic tone for the remaining activities of the Students’ Observation Week 2026.

A Student Credit Card Scheme and Scholarship Awareness Programme was successfully conducted on 3rd January 2026, 11:00 a.m. onwards at P.R. Thakur Government College, Thakurnagar, as part of the Observation of Students’ Week, 2026. The programme was organized by the Career Counselling and Placement Cell & Students’ Welfare Committee. The session aimed at educating students about the benefits of the West Bengal Student Credit Card Scheme and various scholarship opportunities available to them. Students were briefed on the eligibility criteria, application process, and financial benefits under these schemes, helping them make informed decisions regarding their higher education and financial planning. The programme was well-received by the student community and proved to be highly informative and beneficial, empowering students with the knowledge needed to avail themselves of these Government initiatives.

A Parent-Teacher Meeting was successfully held on 3rd January, 2026, 1:00 p.m. onwards at P.R. Thakur Government College, Thakurnagar, as part of the Observation of Students’ Week, 2026. The meeting was organized by the Faculty Members of the Respective Departments and witnessed a good turnout of parents and guardians. The meeting provided a valuable platform for parents and teachers to interact openly and discuss the academic progress, attendance, and overall performance of students. Faculty members apprised parents about the curriculum, examination patterns, and co-curricular activities of the college. Parents also shared their feedback and concerns regarding their ward’s development, which was attentively heard and addressed by the teachers. The meeting proved to be a productive and meaningful exchange, strengthening the bond between the institution and the families of students, and reaffirming the college’s commitment to the holistic growth and well-being of every student.

A Medical Camp was successfully organized on 5th January 2026, 11:00 a.m. onwards at P.R. Thakur Government College, Thakurnagar, as part of the Observation of Students’ Week, 2026. The camp was conducted jointly by the National Service Scheme (NSS) and the Student’s Health-Hygiene Advisory Sub Committee in collaboration with Chandpara Rural Hospital. Experienced doctors and medical staff from Chandpara Rural Hospital were present on campus and provided free health check-ups to students, teaching, and non-teaching staff members. The camp covered general health screenings, blood pressure monitoring, blood sugar testing, and basic medical consultations. Students were also educated on the importance of maintaining personal hygiene, a balanced diet, and a healthy lifestyle. The medical camp was widely appreciated by the college community and proved to be an extremely beneficial initiative, reflecting the college’s deep commitment to the health and well-being of its students and staff members.

A vibrant and exciting Sports Day was successfully organized on 6th January; 2026, 10:00 a.m. onwards at P. R. Thakur Government College, Thakurnagar, as part of the Observation of Students’ Week 2026. The event was conducted by the College Game & Sports Committee and witnessed enthusiastic participation from a large number of students. Various indoor and outdoor sports competitions were held throughout the day, providing students with an excellent platform to showcase their athletic talents and sporting spirit. The event was marked by a great sense of energy, enthusiasm, and healthy competition among the participants. Winners and outstanding performers were appreciated and encouraged by the faculty members and college administration. The Sports Day not only promoted physical fitness and team spirit among students but also fostered a sense of camaraderie and sportsmanship within the college community, making it a memorable and enjoyable day for all who participated and attended.

A Higher Education Orientation Programme for School Learners (2nd Phase) was successfully conducted on 7th January, 2026, 11 a.m. onwards at P.R. Thakur Government College, Thakurnagar, as part of the Observation of Students’ Week, 2026. The programme was jointly organized by the NSS, the Seminar-Workshop Committee, and the PRTGC-Feeder School Collaborative Forum. A significant number of school students from the neighboring feeder schools attended the programme and were warmly welcomed by the college. The session aimed at familiarizing school learners with the opportunities and prospects available in higher education and guiding them in making informed decisions about their academic future. Faculty members and senior students of the college interacted with the school learners and provided them with valuable insights into various courses, career options, and the college admission process. The programme proved to be an inspiring and enlightening experience for the young learners, bridging the gap between school and college education and motivating them to aspire for higher academic pursuits. The event was widely appreciated by the participants, teachers, and the college administration alike.

A grand Cultural Programme, Competition, and Concluding Ceremony was successfully held on 8th January, 2026, 11:00 a.m. onwards at P. R. Thakur Government College, Thakurnagar, marking the fitting conclusion of the Observation of Students’ Week 2026. The event was organized by the Cultural Committee of the college and witnessed an overwhelming turnout of students, faculty members, and the college administration. The cultural programme was a vibrant celebration of talent and creativity, featuring a wide array of performances including dance, music, recitation, and other artistic presentations by the students. Various competitive events were also held, providing students with an excellent platform to exhibit their cultural and creative abilities. Outstanding performers and winners of the competitions were felicitated and awarded by the college administration, encouraging their talents and efforts. The Concluding Ceremony brought the week-long celebration to a memorable and joyful close, with dignitaries reflecting on the success of each event conducted throughout the week. The Observation of Students’ Week, 2026 was acknowledged as a grand success, having achieved its objective of promoting the overall academic, physical, cultural, and social development of the students of P.R.
