Department of Sanskrit
Sanskrit has played a vital role in the development of all Indian languages and in the preservation of the cultural heritage of India. No Indian language can flourish without the help of Sanskrit. Sanskrit also provides the theoretical foundation of ancient sciences. Hence, it becomes essential to preserve and propagate Sanskrit for all-round development of India.
Sanskrit was the language of Science Technology, Medicine, Mathematics, Law, Economics, etc. Sanskrit was a laboratory thought unfortunately it has become a ‘temple’ now. The need of the hour is to probe and investigate Sanskrit, not worship it, not bring emotion to Sanskrit but rational thought process. As Maharshi Aurobindo had said, Vedas are an issue of contemplation, the secular Sanskrit need to be explored, researched and experimented. It has to be evaluated critically. There is need for a bridging of both ancient and modern, and a synthesizing of all the great thoughts of both east and west.
