Department of Chemistry
Department of chemistry at P. R. Thakur Government College, Thakurnagar, North 24 Parganas (North), under the West Bengal State University started its journey in the year of 2016 with a single faculty member and a number of general students of Physics Honours and Mathematics Honours courses. At present Honours Course in Chemistry is being started(2020) with intake capacity of 19 students per year. Department is now having four experienced faculty members along with one laboratory assistant. Different text books and reference books of Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, and Physical Chemistry were purchased for the college library. Class rooms are big enough to accommodate and provide a good deal of faculty- student strength interaction. Right now two spacious laboratories have been set up for this department along with one store room for chemicals, glassware and equipments. The department is enriched with various equipments e. g. Digital Balance, pH meter, Hot Air Oven etc. for smooth running of practical classes.
