Indian Knowledge System (IKS) Lecture Series
The Indian Knowledge System (IKS) Lecture Series is organized mostly in monthly basis with the broad objective of introducing students and faculty to India’s rich intellectual heritage spanning philosophy, mathematics, astronomy, medicine, linguistics, architecture, ethics, and governance, while aligning with the National Education Policy 2020’s emphasis on integrating indigenous knowledge into mainstream higher education. The series aims to preserve and revive traditional wisdom embedded in ancient texts and regional treatises by encouraging scholarly engagement with primary sources before this knowledge is lost to time, and to promote interdisciplinary research that critically examines and validates traditional concepts through contemporary scientific and academic lenses. It further seeks to foster cultural pride and awareness of India’s contributions to global knowledge production, countering the notion that meaningful intellectual achievement began only in the colonial era, while also drawing out practical applications of traditional systems such as Ayurveda in health and wellness or Vastu in architecture that remain relevant today. Additionally, the series instills values of sustainability, holistic thinking, and ethical living rooted in Indian philosophical traditions, and serves the institutional purpose of fulfilling UGC and AICTE mandates on IKS integration, providing a platform where scholars, experts, and practitioners can engage directly with students and faculty to exchange ideas and inspire future research.
