P. R. Thakur Govt. College, established in 2013, persists to be one of the efficient academic institutes and supports 360-degree holistic development approach focuses on nurturing students’ intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. This comprehensive strategy encompasses following area:

Intellectual Development:
Students are promoted for academic rigor and excellence with critical thinking, problem-solving, so that they are exposed to diverse subjects, skills, and interests.

Emotional Development:
Students are encouraged to be with emotional intelligence and well-being. They are nurtured to have empathy, self-awareness, and self-regulation. For smooth progression of academic and professional life, proper care and regular counselling is organized to increase their mindfulness, stress management, and mental health support by Mentor-mentee group.

Physical Development:
This institution persuades students to engage in fitness programme, sports, and physical education. Annual sports are regularly held in this institution where students participate actively. They are guided to be habituated with healthy habits, nutrition, and wellness. Workshop, seminars and relevant lectures are arranged so that students get access healthcare and counselling services.  Free Health camps are also organized within college campus so that students get benefitted with free health check up.

Social Development:
NSS unit of this college is actively engaged in various social works both within campus and neighbouring area. They are provided training in Social skills, communication and teamwork to identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them in the solution of problems. They are encouraged to develop competence required for collective existence and sharing of responsibilities. Pansila Village has been adopted by the college and regular visit is conducted to i current increase the social and literacy awareness among the villagers.

Academic Excellence:
Being an affiliated college under West Bengal State University this institution strictly follows the guideline in accordance with the CBCS curriculum and NEP, 2020 as prescribed by the affiliating university and the UGC. At the same time, this institution prioritizes academic excellence which serves as the foundation for a well-rounded education, providing students with a strong base of knowledge, skills, and critical thinking abilities. Faculty members also provide effective teaching with passionate, qualified, and supportive instructions. Regular evaluations and constructive feedback are taken and analysed to guide improvement. 95.02  %  students have passed with good scores during last five years.

Library Facility:
P . R. Thakur Government College Library system consists of one Central Library named as P. R. Thakur Government College Central Library (PRTGCCL) and fifteen subject wise departmental Seminar libraries. Therefore stakeholders of this institute use this library as a great resource for academic progress .Total collection of books is 9,291(upto30.06.2023) & covering all subjects and courses taught in the college.PRTGCCLcaters to all categories of in-house members, i.e.teachers,students & the non–teaching staff by providing circulation & reading room services. Our library contains a substantial collection of relevant reading matters, text books, & reference books pertaining to the various courses offered by the college, as well as many non-academic books. PRTGCCL also offers different exhaustive services like Book Lending Service, Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) Service, Reference Service, Reading Room Service, Digital Library Service, Current Awareness Service through e-mail, Career Guidance cell, SDI Service through e-mail, Research Support Services, Seamless access to e-books and e-journal, User Orientation Program on different OERs, User Empowerment Program on handling ICT tools for Higher Education, National Level Seminars on latest Digital Learning Technologies.
